Position Overview:
The Retirement Plan Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day operations of our retirement plan administration, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and excellent service to plan participants and HR professionals. This is a highly visible and trusted position requiring subject matter expertise, precision, and empathy.
This is not an entry-level position. Candidates must have prior experience working with retirement plans and be familiar with industry terminology and operations.
Key Responsibilities:

Retirement Plan Processing:

Accurately process retirement plan distributions (e.g., lump sum payments, installment options, and 401(k) loan activity).

High-volume data entry with zero tolerance for errors. Accuracy is essential.

Error Monitoring & Reporting:

Generate and analyze reports to identify discrepancies or processing errors.

Follow up on flagged items, ensuring swift and accurate resolution.

Customer & Client Support:

Respond to inquiries from retirement plan participants, HR professionals, and beneficiaries.

Provide clear explanations with empathy, especially when discussing sensitive financial matters.

Job Requirements
Must-Have Experience:
-
Direct experience working with retirement plans (401(k), 403(b), or similar).

Solid understanding of key retirement terminology (e.g., lump sum, installment payments, loans, distributions).

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, formulas, etc.).
Preferred Background:

Experience working in corporate benefits or retirement administration.
Soft Skills & Work Style:

Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Ability to work independently and troubleshoot issues using available resources.

Empathetic and professional communication style, especially when working with beneficiaries or HR teams.

Willingness to schedule meetings with team lead (Lee Ann) when necessary, after attempting to resolve issues independently.
