Legal Billing Specialist

A local law firm is searching for a Billing Admin to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for handling the billing of the firm. They are looking for someone with solid work tenure, who is a team player and is lighthearted.
DUTIES:
- Helping with administrative tasks as needed, for example answering phones, greeting guests, handling mail, etc.
- Compiles and bills attorney hours to clients every month
- Reviews and edits pre-bills in response to attorney and secretary requests.
- Executes complex bills in a timely manner (electronic billing, discounts, split party).
- Reviews, analyzes and ensures compliance with client billing guidelines.
- Performs a variety of accounting tasks.
- Researches and responds to client billing questions.
- Prepares month-end financial reports.
- Cross-trains in other accounting positions.
- Assists with intake of new clients.
Job Requirements
• Accounting degree or college level accounting classing, 4+ years of experience in legal billing, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Solid understanding of basic accounting principles.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and proficient in working with Excel spreadsheets and professional accounting software (SurePoint, Prolaw, Aderant, Elite).
• Ability to learn complex accounting software quickly.
• Ability to operate standard office equipment.
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to think analytically and independently.
• Ability to organize work flow and use time efficiently.
• Must possess interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with a diverse group of attorneys and staff in person, by telephone or email in order to provide information with courtesy and tact.
• Ability to maintain confidential information.
