Accountant - Bastrop

Our client is a prominent real estate and development owner with multiple land development projects in Bastrop, including event spaces and a number of downtown Bastrop properties. As the portfolio continues to grow, the company is seeking an on-site Accountant to support day-to-day financial operations and enable leadership to focus on broader strategic initiatives. Strong preference to local candidates: Bastrop, Elgin, etc. The Accountant will oversee full-cycle accounting functions across multiple real estate, construction, and property-related entities. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to take ownership of their work. This role requires strong communication skills, professional curiosity, and the ability to thrive in a small, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle accounting across multiple business entities

• Prepare and analyze Profit & Loss statements and other financial reports

• Maintain the General Ledger, including journal entries and reconciliations

• Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable

• Perform job costing and project-based accounting for construction and development activities

• Support real estate, property management, and land development accounting processes

• Assist with tax-related tasks and coordination with external tax professionals (experience preferred)

• Utilize accounting software (Data Pro and QuickBooks) to maintain accurate records

• Support additional operational tasks as needed across the organization

Qualifications

• Solid full-cycle accounting experience (3-4 years)

• Strong understanding of P&L, GL, AP/AR, and job costing

• Experience in construction and/or real estate accounting strongly preferred

• Familiarity with property management accounting a plus

• CPA certification a plus, but not required

• Tax experience preferred

• Proficiency with QuickBooks and/or Data Pro (training available, but familiarity is beneficial)

• Tech-savvy and comfortable adapting to new tools and processes
